Hi and welcome.

I am Esma, a self-taught web designer and consultant who’s passionate about making website design and management accessible, unintimidating, and even - dare I say - fun for my clients.

My journey into design has been anything but linear. In 2013, I enrolled in a PhD program in Sociology with every intention of becoming a researcher and academic. As I moved through my program, I found myself craving creative outlets to balance the rigidity of academic life. I took up knitting. Then crocheting. (I even wrote my qualifying paper on the diffusion of a specific knitting technique.)

My real entry into design came in 2020, when I began creating social media visuals for a Turkish podcast I produced with three of my friends. Fidiro Kahvesi was a weekly review podcast on popular media and a passion project that spanned five years. It introduced me to many modern design tools like Canva, and Adobe Photoshop and gave me a taste of the creative, collaborative work I continue to love in my web design practice.

Toward the end of my PhD, design started taking up more and more space in my mind. Instead of applying for academic positions, I enrolled in Google’s UX Design Certificate program and began teaching myself the principles of web design, along with tools like Figma.

Today, I bring that same curiosity, care, and sense of play into my web design practice. My background in research helps me listen deeply, ask the right questions, and design with intention. My background in creative collaboration keeps things human, flexible, and fun.

If you’re looking for a designer who meets you where you are, and helps you grow from there, I’d love to hear from you.
