Two entrepreneurs approached me to bring their vision to life: Circadian, a calendar app designed to help users align their schedules with their unique circadian rhythms and build energy-aware habits. They had a web-based prototype and needed a designer to turn it into a polished mobile experience.

Despite the strong concept, the project faced tight constraints. With limited time and budget, the focus was on high-fidelity mobile design over user research. There was no room for interviews or usability testing, which meant designing without direct insight into users’ needs, behaviors, or motivations.

To work effectively within the project’s constraints, I leaned into what was available. I conducted a close audit of the existing prototype, examining its structure, flow, and content. I held in-depth conversations with the developers to understand the app’s core value proposition, competitive differentiators, and intended user base. These steps helped me clarify the app’s goals and ensure my design decisions aligned with the team’s vision and the needs of their target audience.

The final app consisted of four main screens with light/mode display options: The “Schedule” page that allows users to organize their day, the “Progress” page offers a holistic review of their schedules, the “Exploration” page offers inspirational resources for building smart habits and the “Profile” page allows them to view their sleep type (chronotype) and other personal settings. For the UI, I have combined a minimalist aesthetic with clear functionality, resulting in an app that feels both fresh and intuitive.
